The lack of storage can actually be a blessing. It`s always been hard for me to part with things I don`t really need -- think, my high school prom dress, old magazines, and makeup I`ll never use -- and when I had a high bed I just shoved everything beyond my bedskirt. Without any under-the-bed space to hide these unnecessary items, I`ve had to confront, and beat, my hoarder tendencies.
What Type Of Bed To Choose? When you shop around for a bed, the bed frame is just as important as the mattress. You will find that the most common materials used in manufacturing bed frames are wood and metal. However, if you want to invest more on the mattress than the bed frame, you can opt for metal bed frames instead. Metal bed frames are much more simple, sleek and stylish and they are also cheaper. You can also have a headboard and footboard attached for added style. These bed frames are available in different sizes and they usually come in casters or wheels. For large bed frames, metal slats are included in their construction to provide extra support for the mattress and raised edges to prevent the mattress from moving or sliding off.
Aesthetics. Finally, bed height is important because it can affect the overall look of your bedroom. For example, a lower bed can make a room look more spacious than a higher bed. However, if you’ve got a particularly tall room with high ceilings, a taller bed would appear more appropriate with the space. As well as plenty of storage, a tall bed offers a sense of refinement. While a short bed is literally more grounded and creates a laid back and minimalist impression.
A Classy Boudoir. Many wooden storage bed frames and similar designs add a touch of style to a bedroom. These can be good alternatives to fancy and expensive headboards. The “built in bed” isn’t just for storage: it’s a kind of distinct design choice for a room. Evaluate your overall furniture scheme to see if a floor-standing bed frame with drawers fits into the bigger picture for a space.
Durability. Metal bed frames are made to last for a long period of time and survive wear and tear. Sadly, most metal bed frames these days have iron content that can corrode easily. Nevertheless, these do have anti-corrosive coating to delay rust from appearing and if you do treat the metal bed frame with a new coating, it will still look brand new.
